Russian terrorism: another strike targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure

Against the background of the huge gains made by the Ukrainian Army in the latest counter-offensive, liberating the areas previously captured by Russian troops, the terrorist government resorted to missile strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure of Ukraine, which has nothing to do with military targets.

On the evening of August 14, 2022, Russian TU-95MS bombers fired seven X-22 cruise missiles at the hydrotechincal facilities in Kryvyi Rih. The goal pursued by the terrorist state was to create an emergency situation in the area and inflict as much damage as possible on the civilian population. The missiles hit the Karachunovsky Bridge next to the dam and the pumping station.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, critical urban infrastructure was severely damaged, as a result of which the water level in the Inhulets River rose by 3 meters, which led to multiple households of ordinary Ukrainian citizens being flooded and several districts – left without water supply.

The missile attack on Kryvyi Rih brought caused massive celebrations across Russian social media where commentators widely praised the strike on the critical infrastructure in a home city of President Volodymyr Zelensky, who had just made an unannounced visit to the recently liberated town of Izium, Kharkiv region, apparently enraging the Kremlin. Postings and comments lauded pilots who had launched the missiles, the Russian army in general, and the acts of genocide committed against the Ukrainian people. If anyone still doubts that Russia is indeed a terrorist state, they should review public reactions to missile strikes on a peaceful city.

It should be recalled that this is not the first case when deliberate damage is being inflicted on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. On September 11, 2022, at around 21:00, the Russian military attacked a critical infrastructure site in Kharkiv region. The strike hit CHPP-5, largest in Ukraine, as a result of which several regions plunged into a blackout.

With a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih, the Russian army is trying to disrupt the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kherson region. Raising the water level in Inhulets may complicate its crossing, but such pathetic attempts will not affect the ultimate liberation of territories from Russian invaders, and even increase motivation and morale of the Ukrainian forces.

Russia is the world’s No.1 terrorist state. Realizing their helplessness on the battlefield, Putin’s forces resorted to open terrorist attacks on the civilian population. All that the Russian army is capable of is to try to sow panic among the civilians, deprive people of water, electricity, heat, and food. If Moscow has resorted to such methods, it means Kyiv’s victory is getting closer, after which the whole civilized world will be able to live a calm and peaceful life.
