Chronology of the most important events in Ukraine over the past week according to the TDCenter.

International support

27.06.2022

Following the summit in Germany, the G7 leaders announced indefinite support for Ukraine. Attention is focused on the fact that the G7 countries will continue to coordinate efforts to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs for military and defense equipment.

The Turkish company Baykar will not accept the payment from Ukrainians, who have raised the required funds to purchase Bayraktars by their own effort, but will send three unmanned aerial vehicles «Bayraktar» TV2 to the Ukrainian front for free. Inspired by this story, the volunteers in Poland have also started raising funds for a Bayraktar for Ukrainians.

The leaders of G7 countries reacted with a statement on the missile strike on a shopping mall
in Kremenchuk. «We, the leaders of the G7, strongly condemn the vile attack on the shopping mall in Kremenchuk. Together with Ukraine, we mourn the innocent victims of this brutal attack. Indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians are a war crime. Russian President Putin and others responsible will be brought to justice.»

The United States has banned the import of Russian gold and added 70 legal entities and 29 individuals to the sanctions list, the Ministry of Finance said.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the UN to adopt the definition of a terrorist state, recognize the shelling of Kremenchuk by Russia as a terrorist act and punish the aggressor. He also appealed to the members of the Security Council to exclude Russia from having a vote in the General Assembly.

In the address to the NATO summit, President Zelenskyy called on the Allies to help stop Russia’s terror against peaceful Ukrainian cities and «find a place» for Ukraine in the common security space. «NATO’s open-door policy should not resemble the old turnstiles of the Kyiv metro: they are open, and when you get close, the turnstiles close until you pay. Hasn’t Ukraine paid enough? Is our contribution to the protection of Europe and the whole civilization still insufficient? What else do you need?» the president said.

NATO has officially recognized Russia as its strategic threat. NATO’s new strategic concept officially changes Russia’s status in relations with the Alliance and defines Russia as the most serious and immediate threat to the security of its allies. The Alliance also approved a comprehensive assistance package that includes: fuel supplies, medical equipment, equipment for countering biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, etc. In the long term, NATO agreed to help Ukraine switch from Soviet weapons to modern NATO ones.

Ukraine received $1.3 billion in grant assistance from the United States as part of a $7.5 billion budget financing package.

30.06.2022

Britain will provide Ukraine with additional military assistance worth $ 1.2 billion — it will be directed to supply air defense systems, drones, electronic warfare equipment and equipment for thousands of Ukrainian soldiers.

The Swedish government is preparing to agree on the fifth package of military assistance for Ukraine. It provides anti-tank weapons, machine guns and demining equipment. The total cost of weapons and equipment is 500 million Swedish kronor. Ukraine is severing diplomatic relations with Syria and imposing economic sanctions in response to recognition of the «independence» of the so-called «L/DNR».

Ukraine considers Syria’s decision an attack on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. U.S. President Joe Biden has announced the delivery of Western air defense systems and more HIMARSs to Ukraine, a new $800 million aid package that will also include artillery, ammunition and counter-battery radars.

EU President Ursula von der Leyen says that the European Commission proposes to allocate 1 billion euros of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre visited Ukraine, where he saw Russian-ruined cities
and promised to provide 10 billion kronor of assistance (almost 1 billion euros). Also earlier, the Norwegian Defense Ministry will help Ukraine to receive additional MLRSs from Britain, providing the British with three replacement systems. «We must continue supporting Ukraine so that Ukrainians can continue their struggle for freedom and independence. We need more weapons and Ukraine now really needs them,» the Minister said.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he would provide Ukraine with six more CAESAR howitzers and a significant amount of armored vehicles. In addition, Macron noted that NATO decided to «strengthen economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine.»

03.07.2022

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited Bucha, Hostomel and Irpin. The head of the Australian government arrived in Ukraine for the first time and was impressed by what he saw in the Kyiv oblast. During the visit, Albanese noted that Australia supported Ukraine and advocated fair punishment for the crimes that took place here.

The French region of Ile-de-France proposes to rebuild the destroyed Borodianka as an ecological city powered by modern energy-saving technologies. The leadership of Ile-de-France has already decided to allocate €1.1 million for projects to support Ukraine.

There remains a threat of invasion from the Belarusian border towards Volyn and Polissia. According to the data available in Ukraine, the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus extended the terms of mobilization training until July 9 of this year (preliminary terms June 22 – July 1, 2022). As part of these events, through the military commissariats of Gomel region, the delivery of summonses continues. In addition, doctors were notified of the ban on traveling outside the country.

Towards Siversk direction, in order to defend the Russian-Ukrainian border in Bryansk and Kursk oblasts, the Russian army continues to keep up to three battalion tactical groups from the 1st Tank Army, the 20th Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District and units of airborne troops. Occasional artillery damage is experienced by the Ukrainian defense forces in the border areas of Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts.

Towards Kharkiv, Russian units are focusing on monitoring the actions of Ukrainian troops and preventing their further advance. In order to return the lost positions, the Russian army is conducting assault actions near Kochubeivka – Dementiivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, the Russians fired cannon and rocket artillery at the areas of Bilohorivka, Mayakiv and Donetske, and towards Lysychansk — at Zolotarivka and Verkhnokamianske, where they led the offensive, but failed and retreated.

During the week, the Russians tried to surround Lysychansk. Probably, the Russians have not yet reached the T1302 Bakhmut-Lysychansk highway, but are shelling it occasionally, creating obstacles to the supply of resources to the Ukrainian military.

On June 29, near Zaporizhzhia, the largest exchange of prisoners of war since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine took place. 144 Ukrainian servicemen returned home, including 95 Azovstal defenders. Among the last 43 are members of the Azov regiment.

In the South Buh direction, the enemy focuses its efforts on maintaining seized positions and preventing the advance of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian military tried to take control of the road section Yasynuvata — Konstiantynivka (Donetsk region), there was a battle near Vasylivka — Kamianka. Ukrainian defenders strongly rebuffed the attack. The enemy retreated suffering losses.

In the South Buh direction, the Russians are focusing their main efforts on maintaining seized position. They are conducting reconnaissance, improving the engineering equipment of positions and trying to prevent regrouping of our troops.

In the north-western part of the Black Sea, the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation continue blocking Ukraine’s maritime communications and conducting intelligence. Two carriers of high-precision weapons are ready to be tasked with conducting missile strikes on objects on the territory of Ukraine.

On June 30, 2022, the Russians retreated from Zmiinyi Island. The Russian Defense Ministry called this gesture «an act of goodwill», although Ukrainian side notes that it was the fire attacks from the Ukrainian military that forced the Russians to leave the island. The armed forces published a video of destruction of the remnants of Russian equipment on the island.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the offensive near Novomykhailivka and forced the enemy to leave Ivanivka in Kherson oblast. Russian invaders are afraid of the local population’ resistance, which is growing in the region. The leadership of the invaders travels with a large number of guards, in armored vehicles and bulletproof vests. Local residents continue to resist.

In the Lysychansk direction, the Russians carried out assaults in the direction of Zolotarivka and took it under control. They also has forced the Siverskyi Donets River, ans are trying to develop success and seize Bilohorivka.

On July 3, after heavy fighting for Lysychansk, the Defense Forces of Ukraine decided to withdraw from their occupied positions.

This week shelling

27.06.2022

Russian troops carried out a missile strike in Odesa region with strategic aircraft Tu-22M. As a result, several residential and household buildings on an approximate area of 500 square meters were destroyed and burned. According to preliminary data, six people were injured, including one child.

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, when examining buildings in the Left Bank district, in a house hit by an air bomb, more than 100 dead bodies were found. The bodies are still under the rubble. The removal and burial is not planned.

Russian troops are attacking Lysychansk from Popasny area. There are a lot of damaged housing and infrastructure in the city.

Russians fired on a crowd of residents who came to collect technical water in Lysychansk from Uragan, that resulting in at least 8 dead and 21 wounded people. Among the dead were 14- and 15-year-old boys. Many of the injured had to have their limbs amputated. The head of the military administration of Luhansk oblast Serhii Haidai reports on numerous massive shelling of the region.

Two missiles were fired at Kremenchuh. The invaders hit a shopping mall with missiles, where there were more than a thousand civilians. In addition to the mall, the Russians hit the city stadium. As a result of the shelling of the shopping mall, 28 people were killed (of which 1 person died in the hospital), during the clearing of the rubble, another 29 fragments of human bodies were found. A total of 22 people are still missing, with many residents searching for their missing relatives, who cannot be identified by DNA tests. Two rescuers were injured during the rescue operation.

Massive strikes on Kharkiv are ongoing. Five people were killed and 31 injured. Among them are five children aged 8- 12 years.

In the evening, the Russian invaders once again fired at Mykolaiv with cluster shells.

In Sumy region, the Russians shelled the hromada of Krasnopillia 40 times, 22 hours later, the enemy opened fire on the Bilopillia hromada.

28.06.22

In the morning, Russian invaders shelled the city of Ochakiv in Mykolaiv region from MLRs. Three people, including a child, were killed. In the photo, a 6-year-old girl was found under the rubble, she was killed by a rocket while sleeping, another child is in a coma.

Russian troops fired 8 missiles at Mykolaiv in the morning. There was destruction in the abandoned site of the 79th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and at the central stadium of the city.

Russian troops again shelled Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, five people were injured, one being in serious condition.
The Russians attacked Dnipro with missiles: they hit a service station, 2 people were killed, there are people under the rubble.

In Zirkuny, Kharkiv region, as a result of artillery shelling by the occupiers, 2 residents were killed. In total, there are at least 6 wounded people in the region.

Russian invaders hit the territory of Kryvyi Rih TPP. On June 27, the Russians «announced» a strike on this TPP. As a result of Russian shelling, one civilian from Donetsk region was killed and 8 others were
injured.

The Russian military shelled Sumy and Chernihiv regions using artillery, combat aircraft, UAVs, MLRSs, mortars and automatic grenade launchers.

Russian invaders carried out two missile strikes on Kharkiv late in the evening, causing a fire in the southern part of the city.

29.06.2022

In Mykolaiv, on the morning of June 29, explosions again occurred: the Russians hit a residential high-rise building, resulting in 9 dead and 6 wounded residents.

Sumy oblast was fired from mortars. Two people were killed and another eight were injured.

30.06.2022

In Sumy oblast, Russian invaders shelled the Bilopillia and Novosloboda communities.

At night, Russian invaders fired at Kharkiv and Mykolaiv with missiles, and Chernihiv oblast — with mortars.

01.07.2022

The Russian invaders committed another act of terrorism against civilians in Odesa oblast. At night, they hit the village of Serhiivka, Odesa region, with three Kh-22 missiles, they were launched from the Black Sea.

The strike killed 21 people, including one child. A total of 39 people were injured, including three children and a pregnant woman rescued from the rubble.

Among the dead in Serhiivka are 4 people from the same family. The Russians also shelled a recreation center in Serhiivka, killing four people.

In the morning, Mykolaiv was subjected to massive missile shelling by the Russian invaders – 12 missiles were fired at the city. During the day, the Russians launched more than 270 mines, missiles and shells in Sumy oblast.

02.07.2022

Due to enemy shelling in Bakhmut, 5 people were wounded, including a child.

In the morning, Russian invaders hit the Nemyshliansky district of Kharkiv oblast with missiles, 4 civilians got injured.

In the morning, the Russians fired 12 missiles at Mykolaiv, destroying infrastructure on the territory of the port and an industrial facility.

The Russian Federation is conducting a campaign of missile terror against the civilian population of Ukraine in order to break the spirit and unity of Ukrainians and encourage concessions to Moscow.

03.07.2022

The mayor of Slovyansk reported on the largest recent enemy shelling. «Up to 15 fires, as well as a large number of injured and killed. We are holding on. We are together,» added the mayor. As a result of shelling of Sloviansk, at least six people died, Donetsk region administration reported.

Humanitarian crisis

27.06.2022

On June 25-26, Russia launched from 60 to 80 long-range missiles, the cost of which reaches 220 million dollars. Residents of the occupied Mariupol are in desperate need for food. According to the local
Municipal Council’s Telegram-channel, they have to set hand-made traps for hunting pigeons. “People used to do the same during the Holodomor (the Great famine) of 1932-1933”, informs the Council.

A new mass grave containing 100 dead bodies was discovered in Mariupol under the rubble of a house on Kyivska street, reports Advisor to the city mayor Petro Andriushchenko.

In Luhansk oblast, Russian invaders have damaged over 60 cultural institutions and monuments, 14 of which were completely destroyed.
The purchasing power of Ukrainians for food has fallen by a third due to the war.

Britain will provide technology to test wheat so that Ukrainian grain stolen by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories does not enter the world market.

As a result of Russian shelling on June 27, 10 hectares of wheat were burned and a granary was damaged in Mykolaiv oblast.

The chairman of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhii Haidai said that the Russian invaders almost destroyed humanitarian aid warehouses of the oblast.

At the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, the invaders are going to drain the cooling pools allegedly «in search of the workers’ weapons», which could cause a nuclear threat.

The Russian occupation authorities of Zaporizhzhia oblast announced that the first ship with grain stolen from Ukrainian farmers had departed from the port of Berdiansk.

After the conducted investigation, Amnesty International concluded that the Russian military deliberately attacked the drama theater in Mariupol on March 16. They were aware that people were hiding there, but dropped two 500-kilogram bombs on the theater.

The Russians hit an agricultural enterprise and destroyed a warehouse in Zelenodolsk of the Dnipro region, where 40 tonnes of wheat was stored.

Ukrainian paramedic Yuliia Paievska (Tyra), who was in Russian captivity for about 3 months, said that the Russian occupiers kept her in a small cell in the Donetsk SIZO (detention center) together with 21 other women. «The attitude was terrible. They did not provide me with a phone call or medical care. I will not talk about torturing and a psychological impact, although it was terrible until the investigation was completed.»

The Ambassador of Ukraine, Vasyl Bodnar, appealed to the Turkish authorities to take measures against the vessel under the Russian flag, which arrived with cargo from the occupied Berdiansk. It is reported that 7,000 tonnes of Ukrainian grain were transported.

The European Court of Human Rights in an interim decision on the claim of the wife of the Ukrainian military Oliinychenko ordered Russia to respect the rights of all prisoners of war and provide them with access to the necessary medical care. More than 984 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation, 344 of which died by the morning of 2 July.

Energoatom reported that by its own efforts it had restored contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency for transmitting data from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station.
