On December 21, Putin announced the reforms in the Russian army planned for 2023: the number of its personnel will actually increase against the background of the formation of two new military districts — Moscow and Leningrad, as well as increased production of all possible types of weapons, including nuclear, which will be used to equip new and existing military units. This means that Putin has planned a long war, which will last for many years and in the future may go beyond the borders of Ukraine. It is essential not to allow Putin to implement these reforms, because in this case the world will return to bloc confrontation. Putin does not hide that his goal is expansion not only in Ukraine, but also in certain West’s countries. The Russian army must be stopped in Ukraine. This is the question of the future peace in Europe.
The most extensive reforms in the Russian army since 1991 (the implementation of which is planned for next year) were announced at the expanded meeting of the collegium of the Russian Defence Ministry on Wednesday, December 21. We are talking about a doubling of its staff up to 1.5 million people. Two new military districts — Moscow and Leningrad — will also be created. A new army corps will be formed in Karelia. These formations will be located near the borders of the EU and it is not difficult to guess that in the future they may be involved in a war against Europe. Shoigu announced a gradual increase in the conscription age: first, the upper limit will rise to 21 years, then to 30 years. That is, in the second half of 2023, thirty-year-old men will be drafted into the army, who will have the enlisted status. This fully correlates with unofficial information about the planned general mobilization in the Russian Federation and confirms that Russia is planning a long war that will last for many years and will end when Putin has nothing to fight for. Shoigu also said that the “nuclear triad” of the Russian Federation was replenished with a new Tu-160M strategic bomber. It is planned to create 5 new artillery divisions and 5 marine divisions. 22 new Yars, Avangard and Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) launchers will be deployed. The production of Kinzhal (Dagger) and Zirkon high-precision hypersonic aircraft-missile complexes will be increased.
The above-mentioned reforms, in the case of their successful implementation, mean the actual return of humanity to the times of bipolar confrontation with the direct participation of Putin. A return to the times when people lived in fear of a possible nuclear war is not a fiction, but a harsh reality, created by Russia.
The production capacity of the Russian military industry is not so great, but Russia quickly adapts to initial shocks and has a wide resource base, scientific and technical potential. Putin finally gave the go-ahead to the accelerated militarization of Russia, the ultimate goal of which will be a global war against the West, the contours of which were laid even in the USSR after the end of the Second World War. Putin, who lives in the world of historical phantoms of the past, dreams of a return to the times of bipolar confrontation and wants a triumphant revenge for Russia, which seems to have been humiliated by the West. This is a terrible threat to all civilized humanity.
The main and obvious goal of such reforms in the Russian army is Ukraine. Putin realized that he would not be able to win by all the available means. The Russian Ministry of Defense revised the principles of waging war and decided to prepare for a large-scale escalation, for which it is necessary to be well prepared following the example of the USSR confrontation with the West in the past. In fact, the reforms announced by Putin in the Russian army are a return to the Soviet totalitarian reality, where the army was financed to the detriment of the real incomes of ordinary citizens. The world can already observe the restoration of complete totalitarianism on the example of Russia.
Humanity may face the bloodiest war in human history. There is still time to prevent it. Ukraine needs the help of the West in its fight against the occupier who encroaches on its independence. Helping Ukraine with weapons is the cheapest thing that can be given for a peaceful sky in Europe already in the near future. This is an investment in the preservation of the civilized world.
