It is known that history repeats itself in similar events, but at different times. The so-called special military operation (SMO), conducted by Russia in Ukraine, was also no exception and demonstrated a number of patterns that, one way or another, took place both during WWI and WWII.
Both then and now, the fighting was characterized by activity in the initial stage, after which it was a positional confrontation, for a quite a long period, that was characterized by local skirmishes.
But, as they say: “there is one thing” … And this “thing” is that Russia’s hostilities are clearly terrorist in nature! Undoubtedly, war, whatever you call it, is a dirty thing. Soldiers get the right to kill and destroy legally, and there is no room for humanity. It’s kill or be killed…
However, already the initial stage of the war was characterized by absolutely inexplicable cruelty of Russian soldiers towards the civilian population of Ukraine. It is absolutely impossible to explain Russian fire strikes on residential buildings, social security facilities, cultural sites. The whole world now knows the striking facts of such cruelty and madness in Irpin, Bucha, Mariupol, Izyum, Kharkiv, and now in Bakhmut and Kherson. Russia and its army grossLy violates the norms of international humanitarian law and the law of armed conflicts. There is nothing more than the genocide of the population of Ukraine.
All of this proves excellent resistance and courage of the population of Ukraine and its Armed Forces in repelling Russian armed aggression. The successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine clearly testify to the military skill of the command and the ability of soldiers to use weapons provided by Western Europe and the United States of America.
All these factors contributed to the fact that the potential of the Russian offensive is exhausted and the war has became positional. Obviously, the Russian leadership had no such plans. Starting the SMO, they relied on the “blitz krieg”, but with the change of situation, the Russians had to urgently change tactics.
The Russian leadership understanding that it would be very difficult, and most likely impossible, to achieve success in open field operations, Russia has sharply increased the terror towards the Ukrainian infrastructure with all possible types of weapons. Here Russia continued the terrorist nature of the war! Both objects in the frontline zone and those located in the deep rear became subject of intensive shelling. The targets, often, are civilian objects, not a military ones, settlements and civilian infrastructure.
Energy facilities, which are located far from the immediate vicinity of the battlefields, have become a special Russians’ “attention”, a target for systematic large-scale missile strikes. Obviously, energy plays a significant role in military-industrial issues, but given the difficult situation with the current production potential of Ukraine, it turns out that its civilian population suffers the most. The lack of heat and electricity paralyzes the normal functioning of settlements and puts ordinary citizens of Ukraine on the brink of survival. Isn’t this a clear example of the terrorist actions of Russia and another example of the genocide of the population of Ukraine on its part?!
In this context, it is obvious that Western anti-missile and air defense systems are invaluable help for Ukraine in its fight against a terrorist state. It is also obvious that without the supply of special types of weapons to Ukraine, primarily offensive ones, it will be much harder for it to achieve success, which will lead to a further prolongation of the war, an unjustified increase in the number of dead and wounded in Ukraine, including among the civilian population.
The hesitation of the civilized West in matters of comprehensive assistance to Ukraine, by no means, contributes to the speedy end of the war and, in the end, the restoration of a stable economic and political situation in Europe and in the whole world… It is also naive to believe that any “peace agreements” with the Russian bear will ensure the same stability, at least in the short term.
How long will a civilized world watch how in the 21st century the walls of the European House, erected by the hard work of many generations of its residents, are crumbling from the toxic ambitions of the Kremlin rulers?!
