Washington to announce $400 million aid package for Ukraine next week – report

The United States plans to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $400 million on July 25, Reuters reported on July 21, citing three informed sources

Sources have indicated that the main priorities in this tranche of security assistance will be «artillery, anti-aircraft missiles, and ground equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s counteroffensive.»

Two sources additionally stated that the United States will not include cluster munitions in this aid package, as Kyiv has already received them recently.

According to the report, the package will include:

  • Several Stryker armored vehicles;
  • Demining equipment;
  • HIMARS rocket artillery ammunition;
  • Ammunition for Javelin and Stinger systems;
  • Anti-air missiles for Patriot and NASAMS systems.

Sources add that the aid package is still being formulated and may change.

Earlier on July 21, White House National Security spokesman John Kirby said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Joe Biden are still in discussions on the United States potentially providing Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles.

On July 19, the United States announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, worth $1.3 billion.
