Moscow do not intend to stop in Ukraine and will go further to Berlin, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev once again threatened the EU countries, in particular Germany, yesterday. He tweeted in such a way after German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that it was “perfectly acceptable” limited Ukrainian attacks on military objects in Russia.
This is not the first time Medvedev has threatened Germany. Previously, he spoke openly about the need to bomb Berlin.
All such statements, not only by Medvedev, but also by other Russian officials, along with propagandists, indicate that Russia will continue its invasion further west if it is not stopped in Ukraine.
Therefore, Russia must lose in an unjustified and brutal war. Not only Ukrainians, but also Europeans should be interested in this in order to prevent a repetition of the horrors of World War II in Europe.
More than a year after the start of a full-scale war, the Western society gradually began to understand the significance of Ukraine’s victory for the world. It is needed in order to preserve the international legal order, in order to prevent the invasion of one country to another, capture of the territory, as Russia is now trying to do.
The victory of Ukraine will remove the threat of the next war in Europe and even Asia. For decades, the confrontation with the USSR and then with Russia was a regional war scenario, not a global one. Now everything can change.
The NATO Summit in Vilnius in July this year should be a productive step forward in the development of a pan-European security architecture, where Ukraine will have a specific role in protecting the eastern flank of the Alliance. Western countries must act more decisively in support of the Ukrainian people. The refusal to accept Ukraine into NATO even before the annexation of Crimea by Russia has today led to the unleashing of the most brutal war since the Second World War. The victory of Ukraine is the only chance to stop Russia from attacking the countries of the Alliance.
