Russia already offering consular services in occupied north

The provision of consular services to Russian citizens in the occupied north has already started and is currently underway through mobile consular units, according to the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, inform in Cyprus.

The final structure and format are still in the processing stage, Zakharova added during a weekly briefing for Russian and international press.

“In terms of the structure and format, all of these aspects are currently being processed. Regarding consular services for Russians residing in the northern part of Cyprus, the need for consular assistance has long been apparent. I would say it is ‘overdue.’ Presently, as part of providing our citizens with the necessary range of services, a regular consular delegation was dispatched to the northern part of Nicosia on September 21 of this year,” stated Zakharova.

“Two mobile units capable of processing applications for the issuance of next-generation passports were set up to handle requests. More than 70 citizen applications have been received. Fifteen passports have been issued to minors. Moreover, a substantial number of applications for Russian citizenship for children have been accepted,” she added. “Additionally, consular teams visited citizens unable to travel due to health reasons,” said Zakharova.

“This work will continue. The total number of individuals who have already received consular services in northern Nicosia or have registered for them is approaching 1,000. These are the most recent statistics. The next consular mission is scheduled for the end of September,” concluded the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
