After the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement of the Ukrainian “Summit for peace” initiative, the Russian side continues to inflame the situation with further escalation of the war. Thus, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, clarified that Putin’s words about a quick end to the war do not imply a negotiation process with Ukraine, but the achievement of the set goals by military means.
For a long time now, Russian high-ranking officials have been constantly threatening the destruction of Ukrainian cities and large-scale bombing of Ukrainian territory. Deputies of the RF State Duma, as well as extraordinary personalities, such as the owner Wagner PMC Evgeny Prigozhin, have repeatedly stated this.
At the same time, the Kremlin’s efforts to force Ukraine to negotiations or take a preventive measures are not corresponds to reality on the battlefield in Ukraine, where Ukrainian forces are leading.
A temporary truce or an incomplete end to the war will be resulted to a “grey zone” in Ukraine, and Russia, in turn, will simply use the peacetime to prepare for an attack on Ukraine or other countries. Therefore, peace negotiations with Russia are currently not profitable for either Ukraine or Europe.
Ukraine will start negotiations with the Russian Federation only after Russian troops leave the entire territory of Ukraine, including Crimea and Donbas. If not, then any agreement will be a temporary truce.
Putin has no intention of seriously negotiating. He decided to continue hostilities and strike Ukrainian cities. For this purpose, Russia’s plans for 2023 include increasing the Russian army to 1.5 million soldiers. Therefore, the only way to achieve lasting peace is to resist Russia in the near future. Therefore, the West should insist on full military support for Ukraine, and not on artificial “peace talks”.
Russia must be stopped in Ukraine as soon as possible, because its victory will lead to further Russian expansion on the European continent.
