As a result of the counter-offensive operation of the Ukrainian army in September last year, more than 40 settlements were liberated on the territory of the Kharkiv region, the largest of which is Izyum. In the vicinity of this city, immediately after its liberation, a mass grave of civilians of the city (more than 450 people) was discovered, as well as mass graves of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among the civilians, there were witnesses who saw with their own eyes how Russian servicemen shot civilians right on the streets of the city.
More than 6 months have passed, and new facts of war crimes of the Russian army are being discovered in the Kharkiv region. Thus, on March 26, mummified remains of unidentified civilians were found near a farm in the village of Sulyhivka, Izyum District. According to preliminary data, these residents died in the spring of 2022 during the occupation of the area by the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
Thus, every day of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, more and more facts of war crimes of the Russian army are recorded. What Putin is doing today is very familiar to the generation that witnessed the horrors of World War II, when Nazi Germany carried out the genocide of entire nations. No one could have imagined that this could happen in the 21st century.
In the territories liberated from Russia, new mass graves and spontaneous burials of victims of the Russian army are constantly being found. Now it is impossible to get information about the victims of Russian aggression in the temporarily occupied territories. Russia does not allow representatives of international human rights organizations access to these territories in order to hide their crimes. After all, the scale of murders can be considered as a deliberate genocide on a national basis.
Russia unleashed the bloodiest war in Europe since 1945. The challenges and threats caused by Putin’s actions could lead humanity to tragedy. Russia must become a rogue state in the international arena: any cooperation with the Kremlin must become unacceptable and toxic.
