On May 28, Russia launched another missile-drone attack. Since the beginning of May, there have been 14 such massive attacks in total. Аs a result of Russian attack on medical facility in Dnipro оn May 28 4 Ukrainians were killed, more than 30 were injured. On May 28 according to information that is being specified, as a result of falling debris, there are casualties and destruction in different parts of Kyiv. According to preliminary data, it was the most massive drone attack on the capital since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, namely, with the Shahed loitering munitions.
Russia carries out such shelling thanks to the uninterrupted supply of weapons from Iran: planes make daily flights to Russia. Supplying weapons for the Russian army, Iran is helping it to kill Ukrainians and destroy Ukraine’s housing and civilian infrastructure. Tehran is not only an active participant in the full-scale war launched by Putin against Ukraine, but also a part of a geopolitical alliance that poses a threat to the West: Russia and Iran are engaged in a global confrontation with the West and provoke geopolitical turbulence. Iran supplies Russia with drones that it uses to kill Ukrainians. Russia contributes to the development of Iran’s nuclear program, which is capable of destabilizing the entire Near and Middle East, given Iran’s antagonistic rhetoric against Israel. The West needs to respond with a comprehensive package of sanctions on these two countries that have challenged the world.
Last year, Russia received 400 Iranian-made UAVs, which were used against Ukraine’s civilian and residential infrastructure throughout the autumn-winter. The total order was 2,400 units of such weapons. This rather inexpensive weapon compared to missiles was used by the Russians in an attempt to provoke an energy crisis in Ukraine. However, such drones turned out to be quite vulnerable. The sharp increase in drone attacks since the beginning of May indicates that Russia has received new batches of Iranian UAVs, so in the future the terrorist state will continue attacks with Iranian drones.
Iran supplies Russia not only with UAVs. The range of weapons that Tehran sends to the Russian army by ships across the Caspian Sea, as well as by aircraft, is quite extensive: cartridges for machine guns, shells, helmets and military uniforms. Each new batch of weapons that enters Russia is another casualty among Ukrainian civilians, destroyed infrastructure and a contribution to the continuation of Putin’s genocidal war. Two terrorist states united in an endless confrontation against the whole world.
The West cannot ignore the aggressive union, which feels its impunity. It is necessary to respond with sanctions aimed at maximum depletion of the economies of the Russian Federation and Iran, as well as to deprive them of their technological self-sufficiency. Otherwise, this geopolitical union threatens a catastrophe for humanity.
