At the 12th meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format, which will be held on May 25, Ukraine is expected to receive new military assistance packages, as well as discuss the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to increase the types of weapons and ammunition already provided. With Russian missile strikes intensifying (cruise and ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine’s civilian targets, frequency of which has significantly increased in May of this year), air defense deliveries are critically important, as well as advanced F-16 fighter jets, which are superior to existing Russian counterparts. Together with air defense, these allow to protect the sky over Ukraine and strengthen the upcoming counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukraine has already received promising signals in terms of creating an international coalition that will train Ukrainian pilots, the UK announced on May 16. In addition to Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, the USA and Portugal are among the participants in this coalition. Ukraine is getting closer to agreeing with Western countries on the supply of F-16 fighters. On May 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the upcoming transition of Ukrainian aviation to new types of aircraft. It was announced on his Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian army has been confronting a significantly stronger enemy for 15 months now, and now it is a completely new force with unique combat experience, skillfully mastering and using modern Western weapons. And the meeting in Ramstein will be another step towards victory over the Russian aggressor.
