Today’s criminal actions of the Russian army only confirm the Russian authorities’ intention to carry out the genocide of the Ukrainian people, which, in fact, is the main goal of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Yesterday, the Russian army launched another airstrike on the city of Avdiivka in Donbas and deliberately hit a kindergarten with a missile. This city with its surroundings have been subjected to systematic and daily aerial bombardment for several weeks now. In fact, Avdiivka has become the first destination in 2023 where Russian aviation is rampant and deliberately strikes on civilian infrastructure.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction in the city of Enerhodar, the Russian military has created special zones for the civilian population, calling them “pits”. There, the Russians interrogate, mock and beat ZNPP employees who did not cooperate with the Russian occupiers. They also use the seized building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to torture peaceful Ukrainians. At least 200 workers were detained by the Russian military, and up to 30 people are still missing.
In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Russian collaborators recently announced that they had allegedly mined residential buildings in order to inspect the premises under this pretext and check local Ukrainian residents disloyal to Russia. They want to completely eradicate pro-Ukrainian sentiments in the city, thus carrying out the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Filtration measures are systematically taking place in Berdiansk, where the occupying authorities are constantly trying to keep civilians in fear.
In the annexed Crimea, the Russian occupation authorities forcibly use the civilian population in the construction of fortifications and in the digging of trenches. The filtering procedure by the FSB officers is severe interrogation, beating, and blackmail with a prison of local residents loyal to Ukraine.
The mentioned above testifies to the purposeful genocide of the Ukrainian people by Russia. According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, as a result of the criminal actions of the Russian army, more than 8,000 civilians of Ukraine were killed and another 14,000 were injured. The real numbers of casualties among civilians are much higher than officially documented, because many of the civilians are listed as missing in the occupied territories.
Therefore, Russia must be recognized as a country carrying out the genocide of the Ukrainian people. The Russian authorities must be held accountable for the crimes committed.
