In the first days after the start of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, over two thousand Ukrainian civilians were captured and taken to Russian penal colonies. These people have nothing to do with the military sphere. Their forcible detention is a terror and a crime against humanity. Putin had no doubts about the rapid occupation of Ukraine and was preparing to start systemic repressions and murders of Ukrainians in order to demoralize and enslave them. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, which managed to stop the occupier, are protecting Europe from another Russian invasion. The horrors of Russian captivity are evidence of what awaits Europeans if Putin invades their countries.
Russia deliberately holds Ukrainian civilian population hostage in order to replenish its “exchange fund”. In the first days of the war, Russian troops that invaded Ukraine took the civilian population hostage and transferred it to Russia. Their whereabouts are unknown to date, as Russia refuses to provide any information on this matter. People who were lucky enough to escape from the dungeons of Russian penal colonies talk about the horrors experienced. Russians treat Ukrainians with pathological cruelty, just because they are Ukrainians. The hostages are subjected to torture and humiliation, including women and the elderly. The conditions of detention resemble a concentration camp. The personnel in such colonies are obliged to be cruel to Ukrainians.
Putin planned to start repressions against the Ukrainian people, the scale of which exceeds Stalin’s repressions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are the shield of Europe from the Russian invasion. Ukraine must be given everything it needs to enable its army to expel the invaders of their country and free their citizens who are being held hostage by Russia.
