Chief Rabbi of Israel Visits Cyprus

Rabbi David Lau – Chief Rabbi and President of the High Rabbinical Court of Israel – will visit the Jewish Community Center in Larnaca, Cyprus this Wednesday.

Part of the visit will include a Rabbinical Conference arranged by the Chief Rabbinate of Cyprus with Rabbis from Nicosia, Larnaca, A. Napa, Limassol, and Paphos. The conference will include various classes as well as a  Q&A session with Rabbi Lau on pressing subjects of Halacha.

Additionally, the Chief Rabbi of Israel will visit the Jewish schools of Cyprus, the Jewish Museum, and the Friendship Circle charity building in Larnaca.

Chief Rabbi Lau will also meet the Archibishop and the Presiden of the Republic – Nicos Christodulides – together with the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus – Arie Zeev Raskin and a special delegation from Israel. The Rabbis will discuss various issues concerning the Jewish community of Cyprus at the meetings.

The Chief Rabbinate of Cyprus is the supreme rabbinic institution in Cyprus. Its responsibilities include appointing rabbis, establishing rabbinical guidelines, operating the kashrut system, and more.

The Chief Rabbinate is headed by Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus.
