Air Defense Systems Save Civilian Lives: Russia Begins to Terrorize Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

On the morning of September 21, the Russian Air Force launched a massive missile attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. Twenty cruise missiles were destroyed over the territory of Kyiv region alone. Kharkiv, Lviv, Rivne, Cherkasy and Kherson regions were also under attack. In Kherson, as a result of a missile strike, three citizens are known to have died. Dozens of civilians are under rubble as a result of hitting a hotel in Cherkasy. The terrorist state continues to kill Ukrainians. The missile attack on Rivne led to the destruction of energy and civil infrastructure. Air Defense Forces shot down 36 out of 43 Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kh-55 cruise missiles. Kharkiv was attacked by S-300 missiles. During the attack, the Russians tried to hit the substations — as predicted, Russia begins a large-scale energy terror of Ukraine.

More than 10 Tu 95 aircraft of the strategic aviation of the Russian Federation were used in the attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. The main target of the terrorist state was Kyiv — it is previously known about 7 injured civilians in the capital of Ukraine, including a 9-year-old child. Residential buildings caught fire in different parts of the city as a result of the fall of fragments of downed missiles. The Russians are using a variety of tactics in an effort to exhaust air defense systems and cause as much damage to infrastructure as possible. This time, cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea maneuvered over Ukraine for a long time, trying to hit civilian infrastructure. Thus, as a result of hitting an energy facility in Rivne, there were temporary power outages, which were quickly restored.

Russia committed another war crime against Ukraine. Against the background of the ongoing military failures of the Russian army, which has no any achievements on the battlefield since the winter of this year, Putin is intensifying the terror of Ukrainian civilians. This year, Russia launched attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure quite early: last year, the first such attack took place on October 10. This indicates that another hard winter awaits Ukraine. The terrorist state will again try to deprive Ukrainians of light and heat, the inevitable increase in missile strikes during the cold weather may lead to large human casualties. In this regard, the timely provision of air defense equipment becomes critically important: Putin’s plans to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure are bound to fail once again.
