On the night of December 17, Russia carried out another massive attack on the Ukrainian energy sector using twenty Iranian-made drones. In addition, one Iskander-K missile and one X-59 guided tactical missile were used. Air defense systems destroyed all air targets. However, a civilian was killed as a result of the fall of debris from a downed drone on a private house in the Odesa region. The terrorist state continues to kill civilians in Ukraine.
Ukraine managed to safely survive the last heating season. Western air defense systems have proven their effectiveness, and Putin’s plans to destroy the Ukrainian energy sector, plunging Ukrainian cities into cold and darkness, were failed. However, the Kremlin dictator has not abandoned his plans — with the onset of cold weather, Russia launches drones almost every night, mainly from Crimea. This trend will continue throughout the winter — attacks on Ukrainian substations are confirmation of the terrorist nature of Putin’s Russia, which is at war with civilians.
Air defense systems such as Patriot, IRIS-T, SAMP(T) are an effective weapon against almost all types of Russian missiles that are used by the Russian Aerospace Forces against Ukraine; the question is its number in Ukraine, as well as warheads for them. An air defense in depth is the key to the reliable and safe functioning of the Ukrainian energy sector and the uninterrupted supply of heat and electricity to millions of Ukrainians.
