Thousands have been left without power after Russia launched an overnight drone attack on Khmelnytskyi Oblast, damaging the environs of Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported on Oct. 25.
The settlements of Netishyn and Slavuta were most affected, with at least 20 injuries reported along with significant property damage. Thousands of local residents remain without power; however, the plant itself is undamaged.
“Recovery efforts will commence as soon as energy workers can access the affected area,” the ministry said in a press release.
The attack was the fourth in as many days. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted all eleven Iranian Shahed drones launched by Russia.
Twenty buildings, educational institutions, a store, an administrative building, and emergency services facilities were damaged in the attack.
