More than one year has passed since the start of a full-scale war of conquest by Russia against Ukraine. Contrary to the skepticism of Western experts, who were convinced of the inevitable defeat of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed not only to stop the enemy on the outskirts of Kyiv — Putin’s main goal, but also to create a powerful “striking force” and launch their counteroffensive. As of April 2023, when Russia has exhausted its best military resources and, through the words of its political spokesman Lukashenko, is asking for negotiations, there is a high probability of the liberation of Crimea. Ukraine has proved that nowadays its army is one of the most effective armies, which is rapidly growing in the conditions of war.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are quickly mastering the most modern Western equipment and proving its complete superiority over Russian counterparts, even modern, and not Soviet-made. In contrast, the notorious “winter offensive” of Russia, personally controlled by Putin, turned out to be, at the very least, a complete failure for the Kremlin. Loss of personal exceeded 85 thousand people in the RF Armed Forces, not counting the losses in the National Guard and in the Wagner Group, which killed half of the Russian prisoners on the front line, significantly “cleaning” the RF’s penitentiary system. Ukraine is effectively using Western military tactics that cause asymmetrically heavy losses on Russia.
There is no denying that each unit of Western weapons provided to Ukraine is used on the battlefield with 100 % efficiency. Against the background of extremely heavy losses and the depletion of weapons stocks, Russia realized the impossibility of subsequent expansion deep into Ukraine and began to prepare for defense. Along the contact line, engineering troops of Russia are building powerful fortifications in order to complicate the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as much as possible. As long as the primordial territories of Ukraine are under Russian occupation, it is impossible to talk about stable peace in Europe. Putin has encroached on the existing world order. He wants to systematically weaken and destroy the West. Therefore, the supply of weapons to Ukraine is the only way to end the war and establish a stable peace in Europe.
