A mother in Kyiv shielded her one-month-old baby with her body from the shelling. The woman suffered numerous shrapnel injuries. This story was shared by the National Children Specialised Hospital “Okhmatdyt.”

The Okhmatdyt hospital commented:

A family from Kyiv was brought to our hospital after being wounded by Russian shelling. The father, Dmytro, said that they could hear shellings throughout the night. With each passing hour, they were getting louder and closer. Early in the morning, the enemy missile hit the area near the five-story apartment house where the family lives.

“When I came out to the yard, I found out that the missile hit the kindergarten near our house. The ceiling was destroyed, windows and doors in nearby houses were blown to pieces by the impact. Glass pieces flew directly at us,” said Dmytro, the baby’s father.

The family was urgently transported to the Okhmatdyt hospital. Doctors performed surgery to remove all shrapnel from the mother’s body and treated the wounds on the father’s legs. Luckily, the child was not injured.
